To All the Little Girls Out There
Posted on January 14 2025
Last night, I attended a networking event to meet new people, reconnect with old acquaintances, and hopefully pick up a few insights along the way. What I didn’t expect, however, was to be standing in front of the whole group speaking.
Looking at me, you might have thought I had it all together—but only half of me did. What happened next was nothing short of life-changing. In that moment, I finally spoke my truth about what this business means to me and what it stands for, on a deeper level.
Sure, you can visit the "About Us" page and read our mission statement, but it goes so much further than that.
Let me paint a picture for you: Imagine an 11-year-old girl in the car with her grandmother. The grandmother turns to her and says, “To be successful in life, you need to be thin and beautiful.” In many ways, she wasn’t wrong—because, sadly, that’s the world we live in. But she was wrong to say that to a young girl with big dreams and hopes, a girl who should have been uplifted and empowered to believe that the sky's the limit. That little girl was me.
I’ve carried that moment with me for years because it seemed to resurface again and again—from the same person, from society, and later, from social media. But deep down, I always knew it wasn’t true. This 5-foot-tall girl with curves was strong, motivated, and more than capable of becoming anything she set her mind to.
It often felt like I was leading a double life, shifting between confidence and insecurity. One minute, I’d be proud of myself; the next, I’d tear myself down. That little girl, deep inside, was still broken. She needed to hear that her inner voice was right—that she was worth it, and she had every right to claim what she wanted.
So, to all the little girls out there like me, and the women who have struggled with poor self-image, forgive the past and embrace the future. Know that you are amazing, no matter your age, race, or size.
Blue Coral was created for women who want to stand out, own their bodies, and be unapologetically themselves. We strive to EMPOW-HER!
